Well, I have my new comp, and all my files but my music libraries made it. The music is rebuildable (even if work), so.

The new comp has a bunch of shiny features, which are... cool, if not necessarily Actually Useful. Though I suspect once I get used to its existance, I'll appreciate having a numpad again. The scrollpad is making me a bit hissy for now, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to love the added functionality on it once I get used to it. (It zooms like a touch screen, and also it's huge.) The audio jack is unified i/o, so I'm probably going to need a splitter for that one.

I'm still in the process of tweaking everything Just So. The rule of "if I don't remember it, it wasn't just important" is going to apply. Firefox is mostly sorted out, as is the desktop whatsapp client and antivirus, but other programs still need find-and-install.

turlough: Fun Ghoul (Frank Iero) shooting with a raygun, SING video, Sept 2010 ((mcr) the aftermath is secondary)
They'd been filming. That was it. Filming the Na Na Na video, gotten to the showdown scene, Grant holding Grace as she struggled, while he watched from the ground. Take after take after take to get it right, get the mood he wanted, get the scene perfect.

And then set up for the fallen Killjoys, all of them lying down, playing dead. He'd called action, and then...

And then what? He groaned, pushing himself up, looking around for the crew, the trailer, the reassuring paraphernalia of filming.

Barren landscape and sand blowing in a chilling breeze were all that met his eyes. "Shit..."

"Where'd everybody go?" Frank asked, still sounding way too calm for Gerard's piece of mind.

Gerard shook his head, turning in a slow circle. No evidence of the activity of filming. No trailers, no cameras, no craft services, nothing. Just a set of tracks leading up to where his band members lay, and another across from them, leading off into the desert.

Guess who had her comp's harddrive throw up a catastrophic failure, and her backups are out of date?

...yeah.

And risk assessment indicates buying a new comp over just getting a diff drive installed.

I'm not happy about any of this.

turlough: My Chemical Romance, photoshoot for Uncle Sally*s (German magazine) autumn 2010 ((mcr) away with the boys in the band)
"Admit it Frankie, your ideas for naming diseases are shit."

"Because your ideas are always so awesome, yeah?" Frank shoots back. "Who thought it was a good idea to kill all firstborns in Egypt, huh?"

"Oh for - Frank, that was forever ago!"

"Don't make me bring up the dinosaurs."

Gerard looks guilty for a moment. "They never proved that was me."

Frank jumps up and points. "HA! I knew it was you, you fucker. Those things were cool."

"I didn't mean to. Besides, it worked out. The humans and stuff."

weber_dubois22: (Beginnings)
Shield under Phil Coulson’s direction feels like some creepy cult built to lure your ass in with vague implications of “doing good” and “looking after the world”, but in the end it’s just an organization run by a mighty whitey whedon red-shirt that demands absolute loyalty or threat of exploitation when you chose not to help them (basically, it’s just another facet of the US Government.)

I think that becomes much clearer when Daisy simply decides to trust them (because Coulson drugs the undercover Nazi guy with truth serum) and the narrative has her do it without further suspicion of their intentions in episode one, and makes it so that Mike Peterson’s mistrust of organization like SHIELD is wrong because they know better than him and he needs to be saved from himself, never-mind he had legit reasons not to trust them or Daisy (after that point), who put him in their crosshairs.

Then there’s the fact that whenever there’s an organization (like the one Jiaying set up) that isn’t affiliated with Shield (and doesn’t like them), the Whedon Klan does its best to find a way to demonize anyone who a): doesn’t want to work with shield, b): doesn’t trust shield’s intentions.
